On 3 June 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations of the U.S. Department of State, Louis Bono.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was held on various aspects of the Azerbaijan–U.S. bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda, as well as on the regional peace process in the post-conflict period.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov brought to attention that the intensification of contacts between the officials of the two countries has a positive impact on the dynamics of the development of relations, and spoke about the importance of mutual visits in this direction.
The other side was provided with detailed information on the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the negotiations conducted in the direction of normalization and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the latest developments achieved within the peace agenda.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the latest agreement reached between the delimitation commissions, which includes the return of 4 villages of our country that were under occupation by Armenia, once again confirms the usefulness of the bilateral negotiation process in terms of making a real contribution to regional peace and confidence-building.
It was also emphasized that the negotiations held in a constructive spirit on 10-11 May 2024 in the city of Almaty of the Republic of Kazakhstan indicate the effectiveness of the bilateral peace process.
Senior Advisor Louis Bono expressed that the recent developments taking place in the region create hope for the future of peacebuilding efforts and stated that the U.S. side is always ready, for its part, to provide support and contribute to the negotiation process in this direction.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
