No:232/25, Press release on the election of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Executive Council of UN Tourism

On 5 June 2025, within the framework of the 71st session of the Regional Commission for Europe (CEU) of UN Tourism held in the city of Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan was once again elected to the Executive Council of the organization for the period 2025–2029.
The elections were held in a highly competitive environment. A total of 9 candidate countries, including our country, competed for 5 seats allocated to the European region in the Executive Council of UN Tourism. The Republic of Azerbaijan was elected to the Council by receiving the votes of the majority of member states participating in the first round of voting.
The Executive Council of UN Tourism is the main governing body of the organization, which consists of 35 member states. The Council is responsible for a number of important areas, including the election of the Secretary-General of the organization, the implementation of its strategies and plans, as well as ensuring its functionality and the execution of its decisions.
