Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov took part at the event on "Global call to action on the world drug problem" on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly initiated by US President Donald Trump on September 24, 2018.
US President Donald Trump and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres talked about the social, economic, humanitarian and security risks of drug related problems around the globe and invited the UN member states to join the Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem.
The document, which is also acceded by the Republic of Azerbaijan, calls on UN member states to reduce drug use and fight their illicit trafficking and to strengthen international cooperation in the above-mentioned directions.
