In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, within the framework of humanitarian support activities of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a donor partner, large-scale events in various countries, including a number of humanitarian actions, iftar tables and aid campaigns listed below, were implemented during the month of Ramadan this year with the support of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).
Thus, iftar tables were organized and food packages were distributed in districts around the capital of Syria, Damascus. In addition, food packages were delivered to 150 families in refugee camps in Afghanistan and to orphaned children at the “Istiqlal” Mosque in the city of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. In addition, iftar gatherings were organized at the “Sunday” thalassemia center in Pakistan, at the “Khalid ibn Walid” Mosque located in the city of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, as well as in Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
The aforementioned events, implemented in close coordination with our diplomatic missions in the respective countries, are mainly aimed at supporting low-income population groups in Muslim countries and societies where Muslims constitute the majority.
These initiatives, covering the space of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, also reflect our country’s commitment to high moral values, the principles of humanism, and the traditions of multiculturalism formed over centuries.
