No:119/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili

On 15 March 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili, who is on a visit to our country to participate in the 9th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye.

During the meeting, issues arising from the existing bilateral, as well as multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as the regional situation in the post-conflict period were discussed.

The sides, confidently emphasizing that the further development of friendly and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia will contribute to regional cooperation, noted the importance of high-level contacts and the political consultations mechanism in this direction.

In particular, the necessity of utilizing the existing potential for cooperation in the economic field and successfully implementing joint projects was brought to attention, and in this regard, the important role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Azerbaijan and Georgia was noted.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, providing detailed information to the counterpart on the current regional situation in the post-conflict period, our country’s restoration, reconstruction, as well as peace initiatives, brought to attention that favorable conditions have emerged for strengthening regional cooperation following the resolution of the former Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.

At the same time, the challenges facing the peace process, in particular the negative impact of some countries projecting their narrow political agendas onto the region, were brought to attention.

Minister Ilia Darchiashvili expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the successful organization of the 9th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan-Georgia-Türkiye and brought to attention that Georgia is interested in further developing regional cooperation within the framework of this format.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
