No:075/24, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany Thomas Bagger

On 29 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Bagger, within the framework of his working visit to Germany.

During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, as well as an exchange of views took place regarding the most recent negotiations held in Berlin between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Armenia.

 

The sides emphasized the importance of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany and noted their interest in further developing these relations. At the same time, it has been stated by Azerbaijan that the smear campaign conducted against Azerbaijan within the frameworks of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Union, and other platforms is unacceptable. 

 

It was noted that the hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, as well as the visit to Azerbaijan of a delegation led by the Chair of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, creates broad opportunities for cooperation.

 

The other side was informed about the prospects of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the most recent negotiations held; Azerbaijan’s views on the draft peace agreement and the points of key importance for the establishment of relations and peace with Armenia were conveyed.

 

Gratitude was expressed to the German side for its support in organizing meetings aimed at advancing the process.

 

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
