Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received newly appointed representative of UNICEF
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Edward Carwardine, newly appointed representative of UNICEF.
Edward Carwadine presented his letter of credence to Minsiter Elmar Mammadyarov.
Elmar Mammadyarov expressing his congratulations to Edward Carwadine on his appointment as UNICEF Representative, commended the fruitful cooperation established with UNICEF since the first days of Azerbaijan’s independence.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said that ensuring the rights of children is considered as one of the priorities on the agenda of Azerbaijani Government. He emphasized the importance of paying due attention to the needs of IDP children in the activity of UNICEF in Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, Elmar Mammadyarov informed the UNICEF Representative about the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan International Development Agency of Foreign Ministry.
Edward Carwadine noting the substantial progress achieved by Azerbaijan in the children and youth policy expressed satisfaction of UNICEF with the practical cooperation with Azerbaijani authorities. He underlined that the adoption of the UNICEF new Country Program 2016-2020 for Azerbaijan will define new perspectives of future cooperation.
At the meeting views were also exchanged on the issues of mutual interest.
