Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Cristovam Buarque, chairman of committee of the Federal Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brasil, and head of Brasil-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group.
During the meeting they emphasized the development of the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Brasil and stressed the great potential for the promotion of economic and trade relations.
Mentioning the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in the development of bilateral relations, the sides commended the activity of interparliamentary friendship group between the two countries.
Pointing out Azerbaijan's tradition of tolerance and its contributions to the interreligious and intercultural dialogue, Cristovam Buarque stressed the importance of the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations which will be held in Baku on 25-27 April 2016.
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noting the importance of attached by Azerbaijan to development of its relations with Brasil stressed the role of high level mutual visits for the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
At the meeting the sides exchanged their views over the expansion of inter-religious and intercultural dialogue, advancing the best practices and enhancing the role of parliamentarians in this process.
