Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the former Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini who is attending the 3rd Global Baku Forum.
At the meeting the sides expressed their satisfaction with the current level of relations between Azerbaijan and Italy. The sides also noted that, Italy remains the most important trade partner of Azerbaijan within the European Union.
The sides highlighted the importance of TAP and TANAP projects in ensuring the European energy security.
Franco Frattini especially underlined the significant role of Azerbaijan in the region, as well as its successful and balanced foreign policy.
At the meeting the importance of the 3rd Global Baku Forum was underlined as a platform to discuss international issues in an unofficial format.
Franco Frattini expressed his confidence that the First European Games will be held at the highest level by Azerbaijan and pointed out that the games contribute to the sport, peace and prosperity in Europe.
