Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Mevlüt Cavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye

On the sidelines of the trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Türkiye held in Antalya on August 28, 2015, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Mevlüt Cavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.

During the meeting the sides exchanged their views on bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

The sides strongly condemned all forms and manifestation of terrorism, including recent terrorist attacks in Türkiye. They expressed their condolences to the families of those killed in the terrorist attacks.

The sides expressed their satisfaction on the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, which is planned to open soon. It was also stressed that the project will strengthen the regional cooperation, enhance the trade and economic relations and trade turnover.

Foreign ministers emphasized the importance of TAP and TANAP gas projects as a continuation of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines in the energy security of Europe and stated that those projects will change energy outlook of the region.

The sides stressed that the recent joint military training of Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and Türkiye in Azerbaijan and in general the cooperation between the two fraternal countries in the defense sphere would enhance the operational capabilities and promote the regional peace and security.

Foreign ministers emphasized that the unsettlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict due to the unconstructive position of Armenia remains the main obstacle to the peace and security in the region of South Caucasus.
