Relations between Azerbaijan and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)
Azerbaijan has been a member of AIIB since the 24th of June 2016. Azerbaijan’s share in the AIIB capital is 0.26% ($ 254.1 million). Azerbaijan is a member of the constituency, which includes Türkiye, Georgia, Brunei, the Kyrgyz Republic and Pakistan. The head of the constituency is Mr Mehmet Alper Batur (Türkiye).
The Governor for Azerbaijan at AIIB is Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy, and Samir Sharifov, the Minister of Finance, is the Alternate Governor.
On the 21st of December 2016, AIIB provided a $ 600 million loan to Azerbaijan. The purpose of the loan is to finance the TANAP project (SGC).
