Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Ambassador Akira Muto, Special Representative for Central Asia and Caucasus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan
Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his satisfaction on the level of bilateral relations and added that a window of opportunities on the ground would contribute to deepening cooperation in different spheres. He stressed that beside the energy sector Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Japan in the field of agriculture, high technologies, and non-energy sector. He underlined the importance of high level of mutual official visits and recalled the visit of Mr.Oqtay Asadov, Speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Japan.
Ambassador Muto stressed that Japan intends for expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and Japanese companies are interested in cooperation in the sphere of information technologies, agriculture, industry and investment. Meanwhile, Ambassador underlined the importance of measures conducted by Azerbaijan in industrialization and diversification of economy.
Akiro Muto reiterated that Japan supports the solution of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict based on UN Security Council’s resolutions by peaceful means.
Elmar Mammadyarov pointed out inadmissibility of violation of territorial integrity of states by use of force and reiterated that Armenia should stop aggression and occupation against Azerbaijan and military forces of Armenia should be withdrawn from occupied territories of Azerbaijan for the resolution of conflict.
At the same time, cooperation in the framework of “GUAM+Japan” and global and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
