Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States Ramil Hasanov
During the meeting they expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation between the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkish Council) and Azerbaijan and exchanged views around the issues on the agenda.
Noting the importance of the 6th Summit which will be held in November this year, in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek the Secretary-General Ramil Hasanov informed that political, economic, social, humanitarian and other areas of cooperation will be the major topic of discussion at the meeting between the member states.
Secretary General mentioned that the firm position demonstrated by the member states of the Turkic Council to the attempt of coup d'etat in Türkiye and expressed solidarity with the people of Türkiye was highly appreciated by the Turkish public.
The sides discussed holding informal meetings of foreign ministers of member states within the frameworks of general debates of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly’s. The Minister Elmar Mammadyarov informed that he will with pleasure attend the meeting of foreign ministers of member states of the Turkic Council at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
Ramil Hasanov briefed about the youth festival organized by Turkish Council jointly with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ganja on September 27, 2016 which is European Youth Capital for 2016, as well as the Ministerial Meeting on the information and communication technologies as the new fields of cooperation to be hosted by Azerbaijan in November.
Elmar Mammadyarov reiterated Azerbaijan's full support to the activities of the Turkish Council and mentioned that Azerbaijan would continue to contribute to the development of the practical and sectoral cooperation within the organization.
At the meetings the sides also discussed granting observer status to the Turkish Council at the United Nations, development of relations with other international organizations, the fight against terrorism and other issues of mutual interest.
