Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Ibrahim Ghandour, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Ibrahim Ghandour, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan on the sidelines of the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly.
Ibrahim Ghandour expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support to Sudan during Azerbaijan's membership to the UN Security Council as non-permanent member and reiterated full support of Sudan to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour also mentioned that his country will join to the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan very soon.
Informing about the current status of the negotiations on the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his gratitude to the Government of Sudan for unequivocally supporting Azerbaijan’s fair position on the settlement of conflict.
Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the continuation of the occupation of territories of Azerbaijan by Armenia and destructive and provocative policy pursued by Armenia hampers the resolution of conflict and ensuring of peace and stability in the region.
At the meeting the sides also exchanged views on the agenda of UN General Assembly and the issues of mutual interest.
