Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Heydar Shiya Gubeysi al-Barrak, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Azerbaijan upon the termination of his diplomatic tenure.
During the meeting the sides stressed the historical and traditional friendly relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Iraq.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov recalled his fruitful meeting with Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Foreign Minister of Iraq on the development of relations between the two countries on September 29, 2015, on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly.
Ambassador Heydar Shiya Gubeysi al-Barrak expressed his gratitude for the support during his diplomatic mission. He noted that the direct flights between Baku and Baghdad will contribute to the development of economic, trade, tourism relations and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov wished to Ambassador Heydar Shiya Gubeysi al-Barrak every success in his diplomatic activities.
