Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Richard Hoagland, United States Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs who is visiting Azerbaijan
At the meting the cooperation in energy and transportation spheres was discussed.
Richard Hoagland noting that United States supports the initiatives on the development of the Silk Road stressed that Azerbaijan has an important role in this regard. Furthermore, he underlined that implementation of these initiatives will serve to the stability, prosperity and promotion of cooperation through the Eurasian region.
Elmar Mammadyarov emphasized undertaken efforts towards the steadfast development of the infrastructure capacities as an important element of the non-oil sector development strategy of Azerbaijan. In this context, noting the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the New Baku International Sea Trade Port, Elmar Mammadyarov added that Azerbaijan makes significant contributions to the development of historic Silk Way route with its railway, land, maritime, air as well as information and communication segments.
At the meeting the sides also exchanged views on Azerbaijan-US relations and the issues of mutual concern.
