Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met the delegation headed by Bridget Brink, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov talking about the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in the field of energy, fight against terrorism, regional security and other dimensions since its independence, pointed out the importance of considering opportunities in further promotion of bilateral relations.
Highlighting the interest of Azerbaijan in developing cooperation with the U.S, Minister stressed that discussion of all issues of interest on the basis of dialogue and mutual trust would be mutually beneficial.
Elmar Mammadyarov noted that the shared successful experience in realization of large-scale energy projects would pave a way in an effective fulfillment of the current energy projects.
Bridget Bring underlined that the U.S pays special importance to the relations with Azerbaijan and is looking forward to further development of the bilateral relationship. Bridget Bring informed Minister about the meetings held within her visit to Azerbaijan and talked about the comprehensive discussions on the different aspects of bilateral relations.
At the same day Bridget Bring was received by Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Foreign Minister.
Khalaf Khalafov mentioned that such kind of meetings contributes to the strengthening of bilateral relations and till now the relations between two countries were on its high level. In this regard, Khalaf Khalafov recalled the historical visit of National Leader of Azerbaijan, late President H.E Mr. Heydar Aliyev to the U.S.
Furthermore, Khalaf Khalafov underlined that Azerbaijan has been and remains a strategic partner of the U.S. in the region, and talked about window of opportunities in mutual cooperation in political sphere, in the field of security, economy, investment, culture, education, as well as in implementation of energy projects.
Touching upon trade relations between countries, Khalaf Khalafov talked about the recently held Azerbaijan-U.S business forum. In this regard, Deputy Minister Khalaf Khalafov particularly underlined the interest of the U.S companies in investing non-oil sector. He added that the meeting would positively impact to increase of investment and trade turnover.
Bridget Brink mentioned that assistance of Azerbaijan to the peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and contribution in fighting against terrorism is highly appreciated by the U.S Government.
Regional and international issues of mutual interest were discussed at the meeting.
