Response by Hikmet Hajiyev, Head of Press-Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the question of the “Trend” agency
Question: How would you comment on the statement of the press-secretary of Armenian Foreign Ministry distorting the statement of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and the negotiations process?
Saying that “The determination of status of Nagorno-Karabakh by expressing the will of Nagorno-Karabakh people was reflected in the statements of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, the press-secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia is deceiving the Armenian community and comforting himself by remaining loyal to the traditions of the body he represents.
As it is noted in the statements of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan can be determined only by consensus according to the negotiations process through the will of entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh, including its Azerbaijani community. The issues related to the autonomy status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan have been clarified in details in the interview by President Ilham Aliyev to the “Sputnik” International News Agency.
Discerning from the criminal military junta regime of Armenia, the dialogue of the Azerbaijani leadership with the people and its address to the international community is open and clear. In the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development for the period of nine months of 2016 and the future objectives, the Head of our State talked about pressures exerted on Azerbaijan to make it agree to the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. But, continuing his speech President Ilham Aliyev emphasized: “Azerbaijan will never agree to it, Nagorno-Karabakh is our integral historical territory and we have to restore our territorial integrity.” This is the firm and principled position of the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed by the Head of our state.
So, instead of deceiving its people by falling into illusions the official Yerevan has to ensure the withdrawal of its troops from the all occupied territories of Azerbaijan and to think over using the possible opportunities on the settlement of the conflict in order to get out from the deep politico-economic, financial and demographic crisis situation . The official Yerevan must finally understand that the international community will not tolerate its whims and desires any longer.
