No:580/22, Press release on the participation of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Türkiye and Turkmenistan
On December 13, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, took part in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Türkiye and Turkmenistan held in the city of Awaza, Turkmenistan.
The sides exchanged views on the draft documents to be adopted at the First Summit Meeting of the Heads of State of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Türkiye and Turkmenistan scheduled to take place on December 14, 2022. The draft documents cover such areas as energy, trade, customs, transport, education and culture, as well as on the prospects for development of the trilateral format cooperation - Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Turkmenistan.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the First Summit of Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Turkmenistan Heads of State to be held on December 14, 2022 will play an important role in the development of the trilateral dialogue between our countries. The development of relations between the three states within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Turkic States, was noted with satisfaction.
Confidence was expressed that the trilateral cooperation format between Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Turkmenistan will contribute to the full use of the transport and transit potential of the region, and at the same time to the strengthening of the East-West Trans-Caspian transport corridor. In this regard, it was stated that the activity of Azerbaijan in the direction of creation of new transport infrastructure in the territories liberated from occupation, including the opening of the Zangezur corridor, is of particular importance.
It was noted that the increasing relevance of the energy security factor against the background of the events taking place in the world testifies to the importance of strengthening efforts in this field between our countries.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also gave detailed information about the large-scale rehabilitation and reconstruction works carried out with a view to eliminate the consequences of the 30-year occupation by Azerbaijan, as well as ensuring the safe return of our citizens displaced from their homelands. In this regard, it was stated that the threat of landmines is a serious obstacle to the rehabilitation and reconstruction works in the region, including the advancement of the peace agenda.
Later, the foreign ministers of other countries made speeches and talked about the prospects of the trilateral partnership.
