No:549/22, Press release on the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis on the sidelines of the 29th Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held in Lodz.

 

At the meeting, the issues of the current cooperation agenda between the two countries and the current situation in the region were discussed. It was noted that there is an agenda of useful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania in various spheres, including political, economic, educational, humanitarian, etc. The importance of reciprocal visits and political dialogue in the development of relations was emphasized. In addition, Azerbaijan's relations with the EU and the work done in this context were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague in detail about the new realities that have emerged in the region after the 44-day Patriotic War, the rehabilitation and reconstruction works carried out in the territories liberated from occupation in the post-conflict phase, the opening of transport and communications, as well as the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the direction of advancing the peace agenda.

 

Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis noted that there is potential for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, and emphasized the importance of using this potential. The importance of energy security projects implemented in the region was brought to attention. Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that Lithuania supports the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

 

At the meeting, an exchange of views also took place on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
