No:492/22, Press release on the participation of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the International Charity Fair, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in Baku
On October 22, 2022, an International Charity Fair was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Azerbaijan, and the NAM Youth Organization at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex in Baku. The event is also supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Tourism Agency, the Azerbaijan International Development Agency, the National Council of Youth Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Youth Foundation, BP Azerbaijan, and İTicket.az.
The fair dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Azerbaijan-UN Partnership, the third anniversary of Azerbaijan's Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the UN Day, annually celebrated throughout the world on October 24. More than 40 countries participated in the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov pointed out that this event organized for the first time in our country is an opportunity for presenting the culture, cuisine, and music of foreign countries in Azerbaijan. In addition, it is admirable that all proceeds obtained from the event will be allocated to the project on children with disabilities in Azerbaijan. The minister emphasized that being an active member of the UN, Azerbaijan made extensive contributions in the fields of peace and security, sustainable development as well as, the humanitarian sphere at the international level and that this event will serve to further develop friendship and cooperation between the countries.
During his speech, the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to Azerbaijan, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Guido Ambroso, emphasized the importance of the event in terms of developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the countries participating in the event. He briefed about the projects and priority directions implemented by the UN.
Within the framework of the event, national cuisine samples and souvenirs representing the national cultures of different countries accredited in Azerbaijan are sold for charity purposes. In accordance with the practice of similar charity events held at various UN headquarters on an annual basis, a contest for valuable prizes was held during the Fair. The event also featured a diverse cultural program comprising national dances and music performances of the mentioned countries, and Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of the event, at the exhibition organized by the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA), photos of the international aid activities carried out by our country were displayed, as well as informative booklets were presented to the guests.
The total profits from the ticket sale for entry and competition, as well as the sales conducted at Fair will be allocated to the UNICEF's project on children with disabilities in Azerbaijan.
