No:491/21, Head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva answers a question from the media
Question: Some time ago, it was reported that the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia would meet on the sidelines of the OSCE meeting in Stockholm, but the meeting did not take place. We would like to hear your comment on this.
Answer: As you know, the 28th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council was held in Stockholm on December 2-3, and the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister attended the meeting.
Prior to the meeting, the Minsk Group co-chairs proposed to hold the next meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers in Stockholm. It is known that Azerbaijan always stands for dialogue, and at previous meetings in New York, Minsk and Paris, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister brought to the attention of the opposite side the position of our country on the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the post-conflict period.
However, a few hours before the meeting scheduled for December 3, there was a provocation by the Armenian side. Thus, information was spread about the illegal visit of Armenian parliamentarians to the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan. So, the Azerbaijani side did not consider it expedient to hold a meeting of the ministers of the two countries in Stockholm in response to this provocation by Armenia.
Apparently, despite the steps taken by Azerbaijan to normalize relations between the two countries, Armenia continues its military-political provocations. Armenia's position undermines peacebuilding efforts in the region.
