No:483/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Azerbaijan Maria Papakonstantinou

On 23 December 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Maria Papakonstantinou.
During the meeting, Ambassador Maria Papakonstantinou presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the ambassador on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece, as well as on regional and international issues.
It was noted that the contacts and discussions held between the heads of state and government of the two countries form the foundation of relations and give impetus to cooperation.
The importance of regularly holding bilateral political dialogue, including political and consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, was emphasized.
Opportunities for cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investments, traditional and renewable energy, transport and transit, shipping, agriculture, tourism, and culture were discussed. The importance of strengthening the activities of the Joint Commission on economic, industrial, and technological cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece was highlighted.
The importance of cooperation based on mutual trust and respect for each other’s legitimate interests within international and regional formats was underlined.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the ambassador about the situation and new realities in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Ambassador Maria Papakonstantinou expressed her gratitude for the reception and stated that she would spare no effort to contribute to the development of Azerbaijan-Greece relations during her tenure.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
