No:476/25, Press release on consular consultations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates

On 17 December 2025, the second round of consular consultations was held in the city of Baku between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the UAE delegation was headed by Rashed Nadhar Rahmah, Director of the Consular Services Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects of cooperation in the consular sphere between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, an important partner country for Azerbaijan, were reviewed, including the possibilities of signing new bilateral documents in this field.
In addition, an exchange of views was held on recent developments in the consular sphere, including the existing experience and applied mechanisms of both countries in the digitalization of consular services, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation and mutually apply best practices in this area.
The importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of migration, justice, border management, internal affairs, education, social and other areas was also emphasized.
The sides agreed to hold the next round of consular consultations in Abu Dhabi in 2026.
