No:427/24, Press release on summoning of Peter Michalko, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On 25 October 2024, Peter Michalko, Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the resolution dated 24 October adopted by the European Parliament, as well as the unfounded and biased opinions expressed by the European Commissioner during the discussions held in this institution were strongly condemned and a note of protest was handed over in this regard.
It was emphasized that the continuation of the smear campaign against Azerbaijan through various institutions of the EU, the statements and actions against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country interfering with its internal affairs, further encourage revanchism in Armenia, and thereby undermine peace efforts in the region.
It was stated that the Republic of Azerbaijan builds its relations with the European Union in accordance with the norms and principles of international law, including mutual respect, equality and common benefit, and the other side is also called upon to adhere to these fundamental principles.
The EU was urged to refrain from biased steps that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, interfere with its internal affairs, and undermine peace and stability in the region.
