No:424/25, Press release on the participation of Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov participated in the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference held in the city of Samarkand of Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the session, on 6 November, the Deputy Minister took part in the voting for the election of the new Director-General of the organization. As a result of the elections, the candidate from the Arab Republic of Egypt Khaled El-Enany was elected as the new Director-General of UNESCO by majority vote.
During the visit, Elnur Mammadov held meetings with the newly elected President of the General Conference Khondker Mohammad Talha and the Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board Vera Lacoeuilhe.
During the meetings, an exchange of views was held on Azerbaijan’s active role in the activities of UNESCO’s governing bodies, its significant contributions to the organization, and prospects for future cooperation.
