No:420/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Ahmed Attaf

On 4 November 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, met with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of this country Ahmed Attaf.
Following the tête-à-tête meeting, a meeting in an expanded format between the ministers was held with the participation of delegations of both sides.
During the meeting, current issues on the Azerbaijan-Algeria bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda, as well as regional and global developments, including the situation in the Middle East, were discussed.
Satisfaction was expressed with the current level of Azerbaijan-Algeria cooperation relations based on mutual respect and shared values, and solidarity was expressed that mutual visits at the highest and high levels contribute to the development of interstate relations.
The role of political consultations held in April of this year between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, as well as meetings between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, in advancing Azerbaijan-Algeria cooperation in a comprehensive and systematic manner was noted.
It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Algeria within international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement, is progressing successfully. The importance of global and regional high-level events hosted by our country was highlighted. In this context, discussions were held on the Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to be held in Baku next year and the United Nations World Urban Forum.
Touching upon the economic dimension of cooperation, opportunities for cooperation in trade and investments, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors were reviewed. The role of increasing exchanges in the fields of education and culture, as well as making broader use of tourism potential, in bringing our peoples closer together was emphasized.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided the other side with detailed information on the situation in the region in the post-conflict period and reconstruction works.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
Subsequently, the Agreement on the establishment of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria was signed by the ministers of the two countries.
It was emphasized that the Joint Commission will serve as an important mechanism for further deepening relations between the two countries.
