No:410/24, Press release on endorsement of the “Joint Solemn Appeal for a COP29 Truce” of Azerbaijan’s COP29 presidency by the Non-Aligned Movement Member States
The “Joint Solemn Appeal for a COP29 Truce” launched on 21 September - International Day of Peace by the Republic of Azerbaijan, within the framework of its presidency to the United Nations’ 29th Climate Change Conference (COP29), was supported by all Member States of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Thus, so far 127 countries have joined the above-mentioned initiative.
The initiative emphasizes the interchange between conflict and climate change, the imperative of developing collective solutions to protect the most vulnerable populations, and promoting the cooperative spirit and positive impulse that may result in intercultural peace.
The appeal invites all parties to adhere to the ceasefire throughout November when COP29 will take place, and express optimism that our humanity can overcome political obstacles and remain united against the backdrop of the fundamental message of COP29.
In addition to countries, the “Joint Solemn Appeal for a COP29 Truce” is supported by over a thousand international organizations, business and civil society leaders, and influential public figures.
