No:394/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

On 28 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), within the framework of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

 

At the meeting, the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the OIC, as well as partnership opportunities for our country’s 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), were discussed.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that our country has always attached importance to the development of relations with brotherly and friendly countries, and in this regard, we are always ready to further expand cooperation within the framework of the OIC.

 

Azerbaijan’s contributions, as one of the active members of the OIC, to cooperation within the framework of the Organization and to strengthening the activities of the OIC were noted with satisfaction.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, informing the other side in detail about the preparatory works carried out within the framework of our country’s COP29 Presidency, the negotiation process conducted, Presidency priorities and our initiatives, stated that our Presidency is focused on attracting financial resources to efforts to combat climate change.

 

Taking into account the importance of combating the threat of climate change for OIC countries as well, it was highlighted that we are ready for cooperation within the framework of COP29.

 

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on other issues of mutual interest.
