No:372/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on repatriation of Azerbaijani children

On October 9, 2021, 4 children, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, living in the Iskenderun orphanage of Hatay province of the Republic of Türkiye were repatriated.
The above-mentioned persons were brought to Azerbaijan as a result of the continuous measures taken by the Government of Azerbaijan.


First of all, the location, identity, and the citizenship of the children to be repatriated were determined. Later, representatives of the relevant state structures included in the working group on the repatriation of Azerbaijani citizens from the Republic of Iraq and Syrian Arab Republic were sent to the Republic of Türkiye. The delegation sent to the Republic of Türkiye conducted a preliminary medical and psychological examination of the children and provided them with the necessary assistance.

 

Afterward, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Türkiye provided the citizens of Azerbaijan with “certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan” and flight tickets for their return to the country.


On October 9, 2021, the repatriation of the aforementioned citizens to the Republic of Azerbaijan was provided via Ankara-Baku flight and was accompanied by the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.


The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan intends to take all necessary measures for the reintegration and rehabilitation of the repatriated persons.


Joint and coordinated activities of the relevant government agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan were carried out in the process of the repatriation. The assistance provided by the Republic of Türkiye in the implementation of this process should be particularly noted.


The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to take necessary measures to protect the rights and freedoms of its citizens in accordance with the national legislation and international agreements to which our country is a party.
