On 24 September 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with George Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Prospects for the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Greece in the political, economic, energy and renewable energy sources, as well as humanitarian fields, and the importance of the political consultations mechanism in the development of relations were noted.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan, as a reliable strategic partner in the field of energy, plays an important role in Europe’s energy security, and that a number of successful projects, including the Southern Gas Corridor, Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, etc., have been implemented in this direction.
It was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan, creates favorable opportunities for new areas of partnership.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, and the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
At the meeting, an exchange of views was also conducted on additional areas of cooperation and other topics of mutual interest.
