No:335/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the participation of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the 37th Meeting of GUAM Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs
On September 22, 2021, within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov attended the 37th Meeting of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting chaired by Georgia, GUAM Member States’ Ministers of Foreign Affairs discussed the main priorities approved during the chairmanship, as well as the issues related to political relations, intensification of relations with GUAM partners and further expansion of cooperation in the direction of development of interaction within the framework of GUAM Parliamentary Assembly.
The Ministers reiterated the respect for the territorial integrity of the member states and noted the importance of resolving the unresolved conflicts in the GUAM area on the basis of this principle.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that GUAM, as a regional organization, is an important platform for ensuring lasting peace and development and that our cooperation is based on the universally recognized rules and principles of international law, mutual trust and respect for each other’s interests.
In his speech, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the restoration, reconstruction, and reintegration works in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan are progressing rapidly. He noted that the main priority is to ensure political, legal, economic, and social conditions necessary for the internally displaced persons’ dignified living. He emphasized the need for international community to put pressure on Armenia for it to renounce the revanchist approaches, and stressed the importance of full implementation of Trilateral Statements by Armenia in order to build a prosperous future for all countries and their peoples in the region.
At the end of the meeting, the 37th protocol of the GUAM Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs was adopted.
