On 12 September 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Qatar to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid AlHajri.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid AlHajri on his appointment and wished him success in his future activities.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues arising from the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Qatar, future plans, as well as the current situation in the region.
It was noted with satisfaction that there is successful cooperation between the two countries in political, economic-trade, educational, humanitarian, and other fields. It was highlighted that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be marked in the coming days.
The importance of utilizing a number of mechanisms to further expand existing cooperation was emphasized, including political consultations, as well as the activities of the Joint Economic, Trade and Technical Commission between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Qatar.
Alongside bilateral cooperation, the mutually beneficial interaction within regional and international organizations was commended, and it was noted that new opportunities for cooperation have emerged, particularly within the framework of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
Detailed information was provided on the full restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, the end of the former conflict, the reconstruction efforts carried out in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the normalization process with Armenia.
Ambassador Mohammed Hamad Saad Al-Hajri expressed his gratitude for the reception and congratulations and stated that he will spare no effort to contribute to the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Qatar during his tenure.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
