No:318/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili

On 22 July 2025, within the framework of his official visit to Georgia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on the current state and prospects of the Azerbaijan–Georgia friendship and strategic partnership. The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of relations based on mutual respect and trust in all fields, including along the interparliamentary track.
The importance of parliamentary diplomacy as one of the main pillars of the strategic partnership was noted, including mutual visits of parliamentary speakers and representatives, as well as close cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups.
It was stated that the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in political, economic, energy, trade, transport, communication, and humanitarian fields is commendable. In particular, the contribution of joint initiatives and future projects within the “Middle Corridor” to the region’s economic development and strategic importance was highlighted.
The role of bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two countries in strengthening regional stability and mutually beneficial integration was emphasized.
During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the current situation in the region, particularly the challenges faced by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period and the steps taken. In this regard, views were exchanged on large-scale reconstruction and development works in the liberated territories, as well as the current status of the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, other regional and international issues of mutual interest were also reviewed.
