No:282/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the delegation led by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop

On July 28, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with a delegation led by the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop, who is on an official visit to our country.​

Warmly welcoming the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of fraternal Türkiye, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov praised the first trilateral meeting between the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and conveyed his congratulations on this occasion.​

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop stressed that the friendly and fraternal relations between the three brotherly countries serve both the welfare of our countries and peoples, as well as peace and security in the region. He noted with satisfaction that the representatives of the three countries met in the framework of parliamentary diplomacy. Mustafa Şentop also touched upon the current situation in the region in connection with the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from occupation, calling Azerbaijan's proposal to sign a peace agreement with Armenia a very important step. Noting that Azerbaijan has taken important steps in the humanitarian sphere, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye stressed the need for Armenia to provide Azerbaijan with all mine maps.​

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in his turn, noted with satisfaction the signing of the Baku Declaration as a result of a meeting of parliamentary leaders of the three brotherly countries. He expressed confidence that this event will contribute to the further development of mutual cooperation. The Minister stressed the importance of relations between the two countries, noting that these relations are broad and comprehensive. Recalling that the foreign ministers of the three countries met in Islamabad in January 2021, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that relations between the two countries are developing in all areas. The Minister also described the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Shusha and the adopted Shusha Declaration as a historic event. It was emphasized that since the first day of the 44-day Patriotic War, the Azerbaijani people felt the support of the Turkish people starting by the President of Türkiye at all levels, and this was highly appreciated. The Minister brought to the attention of the opposite side that at present we feel Türkiye's full support in ensuring peace in the region and we welcome it.​

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the agenda of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, including in the field of parliamentary cooperation, as well as regional security issues.​

The sides also discussed issues of cooperation and mutual support in multilateral platforms and within international organizations.
