No:272/22, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on holding political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Switzerland
On June 3, 2022 in Bern, Switzerland, bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation were held.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, and the delegation of the opposite side - by Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Anna Ifkovits.
During the negotiations, the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, regional issues, Azerbaijan's partnership with European countries, economic and humanitarian relations were discussed, the special importance of our country as a reliable partner for Europe and its important role in providing transport and energy corridors were praised.
During the meeting, Khalaf Khalafov and Anna Ifkovits signed an "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Federal Council on paid employment of family members living with members of diplomatic missions, consulates and permanent missions".
Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov also met with Johannes Matyassy, other Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation. During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the prospects of cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Switzerland within international organizations, economic and consular issues, the processes taking place in the South Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
During both meetings, the proposal of Swiss companies to involve them in the formation of new transport and logistics infrastructure, that may emerge as a result of peace processes in the South Caucasus, primarily in Azerbaijan, especially in reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories, were discussed in detail.
The political consultations demonstrated the existence of a constructive political agenda between the two countries and the need to raise relations to a new level of political partnership.
