On 22 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq  Dar, within the framework of his participation in the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

 

During the meeting, issues arising from the Azerbaijan-Pakistan strategic partnership, as well as various aspects of the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda were discussed.

 

It was noted with a shared understanding that mutual visits and contacts at high and top levels serve as a solid foundation for interstate relations, and the importance of the most recent visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Azerbaijan in May this year, as well as the discussions held between the leaders of the two countries during the meetings in Lachin, was once again emphasized.

 

It was stated that Azerbaijan’s hosting of the Economic Cooperation Organization Summit in July this year and its upcoming Chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation starting from 2026 create additional opportunities for our partnership within multilateral platforms.

 

The positive impact of our continuous political dialogue on the development of cooperation relations across other dimensions was highlighted, and partnership issues in the fields of economy, trade, investments, energy security, transport, and other promising areas were reviewed.

 

Recent regional developments were kept in focus, serious concern was expressed over the security situation in the region resulting from the Israel-Iran confrontation, and the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means was emphasized.

 

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
