No:263/25, Press release on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali

On 22 June 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in the city of Istanbul.

 

During the meeting, the prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, future steps to be taken in this direction, as well as the current regional situation were discussed.

 

The ministers expressed their satisfaction with the development of political relations between Azerbaijan and Somalia. Both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying political dialogue, expanding trade and economic relations, and deepening cooperation in a number of areas, including agriculture, green energy, humanitarian, and education sectors.

 

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highly appreciated Somalia’s active position within the OIC, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the United Nations, and noted the importance of mutual support for the unity of the Islamic world.

 

The importance of Somalia’s participation in Azerbaijan’s humanitarian and development projects, including educational scholarships, was noted. At the same time, Somalia’s intention to benefit from Azerbaijan’s ASAN service experience was highly appreciated.

 

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
