On July 12, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ADA University jointly organized the opening ceremony of the diplomacy week on "The 44-day Patriotic War and post-war foreign policy of Azerbaijan".
At the opening ceremony of the project, the memory of our martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Nigar Eyvazzade, the head of the Diplomatic Volunteers under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, presented the project and spoke about the activities to be carried out within the project.
The week of diplomacy with the participation of representatives of volunteer organizations and movements operating in Azerbaijan will take place on July 12-26. For 2 weeks, the participants will hold meetings with high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other state structures, as well as heads of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan in foreign countries, participants in the Patriotic War, foreign journalists covering the Patriotic War, well-known public figures in order to provide detailed information about the foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan during the Patriotic War, as well as the historic victory of the glorious Azerbaijani army, headed by the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief. In addition, the project envisages a number of cultural programs, excursions and trips.
At the opening ceremony of the Diplomacy Week, gratitude was expressed to the country's leadership for the attention and high value given to the Azerbaijani youth, as well as to the volunteer movement.
At the event, a video collage was shown, containing part of the events that took place during the 44-day Patriotic War.
In his welcoming speech, Vice-Rector of ADA University Fariz Ismailzade expressed his satisfaction that ADA University, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acted as the organizer of a project to inform youth about the 44-day Patriotic War and foreign policy carried out in the post-war stage. He stressed the important role of young people in terms of promoting Azerbaijan in the international arena.
The main guest of the opening ceremony, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, noted that the event coincided with the date when the Armenian side a year ago committed another act of aggression on the state border of Azerbaijan in the direction of Tovuz. It was noted that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan adequately responded to the military provocations of the enemy and that the glorious victory won by the heroic Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War entered the history of Azerbaijan in golden letters. Noting that the conflict is in the past, Hikmet Hajiyev spoke about the main tasks facing Azerbaijan, in particular, the process of restoring the liberated territories, clearing these territories from landmines and, thus, ensuring the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons to their homes. It was stressed that Azerbaijan's foreign policy, based on national interests, will continue to be aimed at ensuring peace and security in the region and the world, as well as international law.
