On 18 June 2025, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov.
During the telephone conversation, the existing security situation resulting from the Israel-Iran confrontation, as well as issues of bilateral and regional cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia were discussed.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia expressed gratitude to the country’s leadership and all relevant institutions for the support provided by our country in the evacuation of Russian citizens, including cultural figures, from Iran.
The sides expressed serious concern over the security situation in the region resulting from the Israel-Iran confrontation and emphasized the importance of resolving the conflict through diplomatic means.
The ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
