On 29 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi.
During the meeting, the prospects of Azerbaijan–Qatar cooperation, issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda, as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period were discussed.
Satisfaction was expressed with the level of cooperation between our countries, and the importance of utilizing the existing potential to further develop relations was emphasized.
Issues of cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), as well as the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), were discussed, and the necessity of continuing mutual support and solidarity was noted. Cooperation opportunities within the framework of our country’s chairmanship of the OIC Summit next year were also addressed.
The importance of the decisions adopted within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in our country last year, was noted, and it was emphasized that the achievements reached in climate finance contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also provided the other side with detailed information on the consequences of the former conflict and Armenia’s occupation policy, the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as the progress of the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process.
Speaking about the challenges and obstacles facing the regional peacebuilding process, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that territorial claims against our country still persist in the Constitution of Armenia and a number of legislative acts.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
