No:209/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to our country Kymgu Kang

On 23 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kymgu Kang.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Minister congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his activities. The Ambassador stated that he would spare no effort to further develop relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijan–Korea bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda was discussed.
During the meeting, where the state of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, investments, humanitarian affairs, education, tourism and other areas over the years since the establishment of diplomatic relations was discussed, the existence of potential areas such as agriculture, high technologies, healthcare and other directions was also emphasized. It was noted that cooperation between our countries within international platforms, especially during our country’s chairmanship of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), is important. The other side provided information on the close participation of the Korean side in international exhibitions held in Azerbaijan.
In addition, it was noted that within the framework of joint cooperation in higher education and vocational fields, the dual diploma programs between INHA University of the Republic of Korea and Baku Engineering University, as well as the Industry and Innovation Baku State Vocational Education Center, are among the important achievements.
The sides also discussed our country’s climate diplomacy efforts, Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the achievements attained within the session.
During the meeting, the other side was also provided with detailed information on the history of the former Armenia–Azerbaijan conflict, as well as the situation in the post-conflict period. In the peace process carried out at the initiative of the Azerbaijani side, obstacles such as territorial claims against our country in the Constitution of Armenia and the issue of the dissolution of the Minsk Group were noted. In addition, an exchange of views was held on the reconstruction and rehabilitation works carried out in our liberated territories and demining activities.
During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also reviewed.
