No:196/24, Press release on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth of Australia

On 1 May 2024, the first round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia was held in the city of Baku.
During the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elnur Mammadov, while the Australian delegation was headed by the Deputy Secretary of the Development, Multilateral and Europe Group of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Rod Brazier.
During the political consultations, discussions were held on the current state of relations between the two countries, as well as prospects for expanding and developing cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other areas.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov provided the Australian side with detailed information on the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the reconstruction and restoration works carried out in the liberated territories, as well as the demining process.
It was emphasized that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), hosted by Azerbaijan this year, creates favorable opportunities for cooperation.
The meeting also discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations.
