No:186/25, Press release on the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and the President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid

On 7 May 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Iraq, was received by the President of this country Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid.
During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the high level of development of friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, and an exchange of views was held on the current state and development prospects of bilateral relations, as well as on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed confidence that high-level visits and intensive political dialogue between our countries would make a significant contribution to the positive advancement of cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, energy, investments, transport, education, culture, tourism, and other areas.
The sides exchanged views on increasing trade turnover, promoting mutual investments, strengthening contacts between business circles, and developing tourism relations, emphasizing that these directions would play an important role in the future development of relations.
It was noted with satisfaction that the existing joint activities within international organizations, especially the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), are progressing well, and it was stated that mutual support will continue.
The counterpart was provided with detailed information on the new realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the reconstruction and rebuilding works carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the mine threat, and the regional peace agenda.
President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid recalled with satisfaction his meetings with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku, as well as the Davos Economic Forum, noted the importance of such high-level contacts, and conveyed his greetings to the Head of State.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of further strengthening efforts to continuously develop friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq based on mutual respect and shared values was emphasized.
Views were also exchanged on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest during the meeting.
