No:180/25, Press release on the first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya

On 2 May 2025, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev paid a visit to the Republic of Kenya.

 

Within the framework of the visit, the first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya were held in Nairobi. During the meeting, led by Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Deputy Minister of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of Kenya Abraham Korir SingOei, the positive dynamics of bilateral political, economic, trade, humanitarian and inter-parliamentary relations, as well as cooperation within international platforms, were reviewed.

 

The sides held a broad exchange of views on the future development prospects of the relations formed over the 20 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 

Solidarity was expressed regarding the existence of wide opportunities for cooperation in the fields of information and communication technologies and digital economy, promotion of the progressive “ASAN Service” model, energy and mineral resources, agriculture, tourism, and education.

 

Cooperation within multilateral formats, especially within the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, was highly appreciated, and opportunities for its expansion were discussed.

 

During the political consultations, views were exchanged on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

 

During the visit, Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev was also received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, as well as the Minister of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi. It was emphasized that the first political consultations would make an important contribution to further deepening existing cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral directions.

 

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was organized between Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and Kenyan youth at the initiative of Charlene Ruto, Youth Champion of Kenya and head of the “International Youth Network” public association.
