No:179/24, Press release on the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský

On 23 April 2024, within the framework of his official visit to the Czech Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský.
The one-on-one meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Jan Lipavský was followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of the delegations of both sides.
During the meetings, issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic in political, economic, energy, humanitarian, and other areas were discussed, and views were exchanged on recent regional and international developments.
It was noted that the Azerbaijan–Czech Republic strategic partnership is based on the principles and norms of international law, including respect for and support of each other’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders.
It was emphasized that the existing high-level political dialogue between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, as well as mutual visits and contacts at the level of heads of state and government and parliaments, contribute to the development of relations both bilaterally and within multilateral platforms. In this regard, the importance of further intensifying the work of the bilateral economic commission was also highlighted.
It was brought to attention that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted by Azerbaijan this year, creates additional opportunities for Azerbaijan–Czech partnership.
Satisfaction was expressed with the current level of development of Azerbaijan–Czech economic and trade relations, and attention was drawn to the importance of increasing mutual investments and diversifying existing areas of cooperation in order to make these relations more sustainable.
In this context, views were exchanged on issues such as expanding cooperation in the energy sector to include green and renewable energy, the participation of Czech investors in large-scale reconstruction and rebuilding projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, and the utilization by Czech transit and logistics companies of opportunities provided by the Middle Corridor passing through Azerbaijan and the Alat Free Economic Zone located in the country.
The sides expressed a shared view on continuing and further deepening successful cooperation in humanitarian, education, culture, youth and sports, and tourism sectors.
The other side was also informed in detail about the post-conflict situation in the region, the mine threat, as well as the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The meetings also covered other issues of mutual interest.
Following the meetings, the ministers delivered statements on the outcomes and answered questions from journalists at a press briefing.
