On 28–29 April 2025, a government mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov paid a visit to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
During the visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov was received by the Chief Adviser (Prime Minister) of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Muhammad Yunus. The Deputy Minister presented an invitation letter from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the Chief Adviser as a special guest to the 17th Summit Meeting of the Heads of State of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization to be held in Azerbaijan on 3–4 July 2025.
In addition, E. Mammadov held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Touhid Hossain.
During the meetings, the Bangladeshi side highly appreciated the Azerbaijani government mission, and issues of mutual interest to both sides were discussed.
Within the framework of the visit, the second round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh was held. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Jashim Uddin from the Bangladeshi side.
During the political consultations, the expansion of bilateral and multilateral political relations, as well as the current state and prospects of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, humanitarian and other areas were discussed.
Cooperation between the two countries within international organizations was positively assessed, and the importance of strengthening mutual support activities in multilateral formats was emphasized.
A roundtable meeting was held between members of the Azerbaijani government mission — including representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Science and Education, the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASAN Service), and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO) — and the relevant state institutions of Bangladesh, during which cooperation opportunities were discussed. At the roundtable held at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, representatives of Azerbaijani state institutions delivered comprehensive presentations.
