No:156/25, Press release on consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On 15 April 2025, the next consular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran were held in the city of Tehran.
During the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The event was also attended by staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Consulate General in the city of Tabriz, officials of the foreign policy institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, and the State Border Service of the two countries.
During the consular consultations, an exchange of views was held on the current state and development prospects of cooperation in the consular sphere between the two countries.
The sides held discussions on the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of the citizens of the two countries, and on providing them with prompt and effective consular-legal assistance, and reached an agreement on intensifying cooperation to eliminate existing difficulties.
An exchange of views was held on bilateral cooperation between internal affairs, justice, migration, border, and customs authorities, and the importance of joint measures to strengthen relations in the relevant areas was emphasized.
At the same time, within the framework of the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Vahid Jalalzadeh.
