Answer: First of all, I would like to emphasize that the Azerbaijani side provided information that it will ensure full security of all players who will participate in the final game of the UEFA Europa League in Baku on May 29 of this year, including the player of Arsenal Football Club H. Mkhitaryan, as well as all the fans.

Personally, as a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I have repeatedly stated while answering questions concerning the issue that sports and politics are separate. It is not the first time that Azerbaijan hosts significant sporting events, and sportsmen of the Armenian origin also participated in numerous sports competitions held thus far in our capital.

The statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the existing factors that prevent ArsenalFootball Club player of the Armenian origin from visiting Baku testifies to attempts of Armenia to turn sport into an instrument of politics due to its internal political problems. The participation of the Armenian Foreign Ministry in such a game is only regrettable.

Alas, this step clearly demonstrated that Armenia is not focused on preparing people for peace, as declared in the statements of the Co-chairs of the Minsk Group. Unfortunately, Armenia uses a player of Arsenal of the Armenian origin for its provocative purposes. It also demonstrated that, first of all, it is the Armenian people who need to be prepared for peace. It is incredible and absurd that Armenia, a mono-ethnic country that has conducted ethnic cleansing in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, accuses Azerbaijan of racism. The coexistence of various religious and ethnic groups in an atmosphere of peace and tolerance in Azerbaijan is well known throughout the world.

A high-level organization of the final match of the UEFA Europa League in Baku, and acquaintance of foreigners visiting the country (whether they are football players or fans) with the real situation in Azerbaijan will be the best response to the baseless claims of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

Ответ: Прежде всего, хотела бы подчеркнуть, что Азербайджанская сторона предоставила информацию о том, что она обеспечит в полной мере безопасность всех игроков, которые примут участие в финальной игре Лиги Европы УЕФА в Баку 29 мая сего года, в том числе игрока футбольного клуба «Арсенал» Г.Мхитаряна, а также всех болельщиков.

Я лично как представитель Министерства иностранных дел, отвечая на вопросы относительно этого, неоднократно заявляла, что Азербайджан не отождествляет спорт с политикой. Азербайджан не впервые принимает значимые спортивные соревнования, а проводимых до сих пор в столице страны многочисленных спортивных состязаниях участвовали в том числе и спортсмены армянского происхождения.

Заявление МИД Армении о наличии факторов, препятствующих игроку футбольного клуба «Арсенал» армянского происхождения посетить Баку, свидетельствует о попытках из-за внутриполитических проблем превратить спорт в инструмент политики. Участие МИД Армении в подобной игре вызывает лишь сожаление.

Увы, этот шаг наглядно продемонстрировал, что Армения не ориентирована на то, чтобы готовить народы к миру, о чем говорится в заявлениях сопредседателей Минской группы. К сожалению, Армения использует игрока «Арсенала» армянского происхождения в своих провокационных целях. Это также продемонстрировало, что в первую очередь именно армянский народ нуждается в подготовке к миру. Невероятно и абсурдно, что Армения, являющаяся моноэтнической страной, проведшей этнические чистки на оккупированных территориях Азербайджана, обвиняет Азербайджан в расизме. Сосуществование различных религиозных и этнических групп в атмосфере мира и толерантности в Азербайджане хорошо известно всему миру.

Организация на высоком уровне финального матча Лиги Европы УЕФА в Баку, знакомство посещающих страну иностранцев (будь то футболисты, либо болельщики) с реальной ситуацией в Азербайджане станет лучшим ответом на необоснованные претензии МИД Армении.
