No:136/26, Press release on the telephone conversation of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal Paulo Rangel

On 1 April, a phone call was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Paulo Rangel.
During the phone call, the Ministers discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Portugal, as well as regional and international security issues.
The Portuguese Minister brought to attention that a decision has been made to upgrade the level of his country’s diplomatic representation in Azerbaijan and to open an embassy in our country. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude for this decision.
The Ministers emphasized the importance of the mechanism of political consultations and mutual visits in the development of bilateral relations. The existing opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, trade, transport, and tourism were reviewed.
The sides also touched upon issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations and noted the importance of continuing mutual support.
The Ministers expressed their concerns over the increasing military escalation in the Middle East and brought to attention the necessity of a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
The Ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
